For most people, staying in the Korenica area is about visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park. Understandable, but do allow yourself some extra time and you won't be sorry. This beautiful landcape and friendly little village deserve more than hurried tourists on their way to & from the park. If possible, avoid the high season, when it's warm and crowded. This is not a place to shuffle around in thick crowds and the park does not appeal as it should when viewed from a belly-to-back parade. Spring or autumn are the best times to go here; relatively few tourists, nice climate and nature at it's best! Or escape onto the many hiking trails in the area and with careful planning you may even touch parts of the lake trail (with no boots to pay your entrance fee? ;-)
Such a beautiful area in the mountains! Loved the river and waterfalls. Plitvice Lakes National Park is only 10 minutes away. Poljanak itself seems to just be a small collection of houses around the river, but there are also a couple markets and restaurants to get what you need.
Jezerce is the town on the edge of Plitvice Lakes National Park. It has 2-3 hotels, and several dozen B&B's to accommodate tourists. The park is extraordinarily beautiful, and the facilities are well designed to accommodate the flow of tourists. It's well worth a place on your itinerary through Croatia!
Rastovaca is the only village closer to Plitvice Lakes National Park. But there is only one restaurant nearby the entrance and the Plitvice Entrance 1. The village is very small about 90 populations. As far as I can tell, almost every single house there is doing B & B business. There s not much you can do in Rastovaca but for your stay and getting into Plitvice Lakes easily.
We spent a day at Plitvice Lakes National Park, which was the main reason we chose Croatia for a week-long vacation. I had high expectations of the park and it exceeded them in every way. The lakes and waterfalls are amazing in their own right, but what is even more amazing are the walkways that have been constructed so that you get the best possible view of all the natural wonders there. I am a true waterfall buff and I think these are my favorite waterfalls anywhere. I even like them better than Niagara Falls because I like high wispy falls better than high water volume falls (but I do love those too). We arrived at Entrance 2, took the bus to Entrance 1 where we entered the park. We then walked all around the lower section, the most beautiful with the largest waterfalls, and then took a boat across the lake. We then hiked on the high side of the mountains, because the lower path was flooded, to the end of the park where we could get a bus back to Entrance 2. We covered 5 miles (8 km) and spent about 4-5 hours in the park taking our time. I was wearing walking sandals, which held up well, but next time I'll take my hiking boots. The upper trails are serious hiking trails with beautiful tall trees.
One of the most paradise like localities in the world, a trip to the Plitvice Lakes National Park is a must for anyone traveling across the region. Although it's possible to see the entire park in one day using shortcuts by ferry if you stay in one of the nearby villages, a 2 day trip is recommendable if you're traveling through the area by long distance coach or travel by bus from Zadar, Split etc. If you're looking for a place to stay, Guesthouse Bor is highly recommendable if you're looking for hotel-grade room comfort. In the park itself there are few locations to buy drinks or food, so make sure to bring a lunch and sufficient water into the park. You'll be climbing a lot, so 2 liters per person per day is a minimum in summer. Good walking shoes are a must.
Nice little town, close to the Plitvice lakes national park, which was mainly the purpose of our stay. Beautiful mountain surroundings, possibility to buy groceries.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a great place if you would like to enjoy nature and work out a bit. You can choose different ways to visit park, by 1-2 hr, 3-4 hr, 5-6 hrs tours. The entry ticket includes also bus and boat. Only there is almost no place to have drinks or meals inside in the park.
Easy to spend a full day on the Plitvice lakes national park x the 6-8 hr walk took us 5.5 hours. Wish we had a second day to see the surrounding area
This place was just a short walk to Entrance 1 and the guesthouse next door offered full course dinners with local foods and prepared in a brick oven - convenient and good too - so much more personal than a restaurant! A nice respite from the crowds at Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Rastovača
I loved my stay at Ljubo and Ana's! It was within walking distance of the truly special Plitvice Lakes National Park, and the fantastic Lička Kuća restaurant for local, tasty and affordable Croatian dishes, yet was located in a really peaceful, idyllic spot in the Croatian countryside. The room was very cosy, the hosts were lovely, and I would have liked to have stayed longer to hike and explore more of the beautiful local countryside.
Rakovica
I do recommend staying at Countryside Apartment. The unit was spacious, well-equipped and clean. It was easy to find and, moreover, close to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Jure was very communicative and helpful and the check-in and check-out process went smoothly. The unit was close to markets and part of a family compound so I did not feel isolated but rather really enjoyed the uncrowded feeling of being in the country.
Plitvička Jezera
The location of the apartment was perfect, allowing us to walk via a short trail to one of the entrances of Plitvice Lakes National Park and avoid paying for park parking. Although the outside of the building and the stairwell area showed a lot of wear, the interior of the apartment was nicely renovated and thoroughly modern. A small grocery store was just around the corner, making it easy to get breakfast and lunch items.
Seliste Dreznicko
Wonderful location close to Plitvice Lakes National Park. A grocery store and dining options were also conveniently close. The apartment was spacious for our family and had everything we needed. Two full bathrooms were especially nice. The host was friendly, greeted us upon arrival, and brought us fresh muffins after we checked in. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or recommend the apartment to friends.
Seliste Dreznicko
What an absolutely beautiful property in the heart of the Croatian countryside. A lovely warm welcome from our host with traditional plum liqueur and honey and a tour of the property. Loved the outdoor stone BBQ, hot tub and swimming in the nearby river. This property exceeded all our expectations and is conveniently located only a few kilometers away from the stunning Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Plitvička Jezera
As far as location goes, the apartment is just a 10-minute walk down a nice woodland area to Entrance 2 of Plitvice Lakes National Park. There is also a mini-market some 50 metres away and a bistro at the entrance of Mukinje village. The apartment was spotless, cosy and comfortable, and for the three friends that we were, it was just perfect! This apartment definitely comes highly recommended!
Plitvica Selo
My visit to the Plitvice Lakes National Park is been, thanks to the House by the River Team hospitality and the location perfect. The Park represents the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia, so don't miss to visit it from the House on the River and do not scare in ask for tip's and insights to the owner, a really pleasent and competent local home-made man!
Grabovac
Fantastic place - apartment was super comfortable and clean, hostess was friendly and welcoming, kitchen had everything one might need (kitchenware, kettle, glasses, vine glasses, microwave, etc). Jacuzzi was already hot when we arrived and ready to use, there was also possibility to use sauna. Would definitely recommend. Great choice if planning to visit Plitvice Lakes national park.
Rakovica
We did not spend as much time as I would have liked here because we were delayed at getting in. In fact, we got in at almost 2am. However, the host was incredibly gracious in waiting up for us and turning over the key to us. The apartment was quite large and the beds were comfortable. We left at 8am since we had timed tickets at Plitvice Lakes National Park. The owner was wonderful.
Korenica
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed here for one night as a stop off for the Plitvice Lakes National Park (hostel offer transfer too and from the park). We had a private double room and all shared facilities were clean. The hostel offer ideas of lone/group activities such as hikes. Very close to supermarket, restraunts and bus stop. Definitely recommend!
Plitvička Jezera
Zeliko was a wonderful host. When we arrived early, he welcomed us and showed us his favorite routes for the Plitvice Lakes National Park, and also gave us the name of a restaurant with delicious, local food. The apartment was spacious and newly tiled. His sweet dog, Stella, was a definite bonus for us, as she quietly greeted our comings and goings with tail wagging.
Seliste Dreznicko
It was a comfortable and convenient apartment in which it is nice to spend time with friends and family. We stayed there for 2 nights while visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. The hosts are very welcoming and hospitable people. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Food stores and restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely come back here again.
Rakovica
Great location to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park. Nevenka, the owner, was really kind to us, she offered a drink at her place. You have everything you need around. Supermarket and bakery. The apartament was very clean. It was rainning and cloud when we arrived, she left the heater on, so the apartment was warm and cozy. I really recomend Apartman Nevenka.
This resort was an unexpected surprise. We were expecting a nice hotel, but not a full resort with wonderful activities and amenities available. The staff were all incredibly welcoming and friendly. The rooms were charming and very quiet, with all the amenities we needed. We also appreciated the very close entrance to Plitvice Lakes National Park!
Drežnik Grad
Superb location near Plitvice Lakes National Park. Approx. 15 min. by car to entry 1. Family business, very kind staff, receptive to any request, makes you feel at home. The very quiet rural area recommended for families with children. Apartment equipped with everything you need for self catering. Small supermarket nearby. I highly recommend.
Rakovica
Incredible B&B off the beaten track in Croatia! Just 20 minutes to Plitvice Lakes National Park and less than 10 minutes from the Barac Caves. The guy running the place was SO friendly and hospitable, definitely have him cook you dinner! The food was incredible, great breakfast as well. The best hospitality I've ever experienced.
We stayed at Hotel Plitvice to have easy access to Plitvice Lakes National Park and that met our goals. Marija at the front desk was a wonderful concierge who was incredibly helpful and informative, including assisting us with dinner reservations for the night of our stay. The free breakfast was also nice and convenient.
Vrelo Koreničko
The host Ana was super helpful. Complete nature sounding you and plenty of space for children. Apartment location was 20 minute drive from Plitvice Lakes National Park and also Bosnia & Herzegovina border Izačić was 30 minutes drive. You can find (Halal food options) and Una National Park there was very nice.
Plitvica Selo
The whole experience. Jasmine was fantastic and very helpful. They have a small dinner menu suitable for all tastes, perfectly executed by the chef who is also the owner. They also have premium quality Croatian wines available. A quality place to stay when visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park.
It is a nice small hotel just 10 min drive from the Plitvice lakes National Park. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Our suite was spacious and well appointed. Food choice is sufficient for both dinner and breakfast. Guests benefit from a free parking and a nice outdoor swimming pool
